League Week 15

1st XI fall at Linton
2nd XI find our yoof policy pays and inspires the grey market to a remarkable victory at home to Mersham

1st team match report will follow

Winning the toss the skipper elected to bowl. George Thomas and Dan opened the bowling again this week and George was rewarded with the precious wicket of Ollie Austin 4th ball of the innings for just 4 runs. Tight bowling from the pair built pressure and George reaped the reward as he took 3 wickets from his 1st 8 overs. Dan was unlucky to end wicketless but 8 overs 2 maidens for 25 runs is an outstanding effort. James replaced Dan and struggled early but after some coaching from Sam he settled and poached a caught and bolwed. Sam took over the bowling duties from George and managed to complete the full 12 overs taking 1 wicket for 40 adding some much needed control. Pete took over from James and the Mersham took a liking to him and blasted 53 from his 8 overs. George completed the innings picking up another 3 wickts to give him final figures of 11 overs, 3 maidens, 6 for 40 and left his Dad with a tab to be paid behind the bar.

Sam and Nick opened the batting with the words of encouragement from the Chairman ringing in their ears “Go out, get the runs come back in again, simple” Henry the V it wasn’t but it did the trick. Scoring at a rate of nearly 7 an over they set about the Mersham bowlers. Both blasted the ball to all parts making the skipper run into Stanley road to retrieve the ball on more than one occasion. It was all over after only 31 overs Sam ending on 108 not out and Nick 91 not out. A superb batting display and tremendous 10 wicket win.
