U11's
v LBH home game decided in last ball Tuesday 26th May
Marden U11's vs LBH U11's . Having lost the toss LBH
decided to bat first in what was going to be the sternest
test yet for Marden U11's . LBH amassed 266 for 6 off
their 20 overs , a pretty much par score and a good
all round bowling and fielding performance from Marden.
The Marden innings started briskly with a strong opening
partnership from Alex Walker and Henry Young , the middle
order struggled a little against some very good bowling
but importantly lost only two wickets which left things
well balanced .
The final pairing of Theo Kinnersley and Jack Sunnucks
had a big task in front of them , needing 22 runs off
4 overs with the LBH more experienced bowlers still
to come . When Theo pulled a rank long hop to square
leg ( -6 runs ) all seemed lost but the pair continued
to be aggressive and with some excellent running between
the wickets it came down to the final ball of the match
.
Marden needed 3 to draw and 4 to win . The LBH captain
bowled the final ball and Jack smashed a powerful drive
through backward point and the ball crashed into the
pavillion steps to a resounding cheer from the home
fans and the team rushing on to the pitch to congratulate
the two batsmen. A great game of cricket and a well
fought win . Next week Staplehurst away on weds 3rd
June.
